Anyone with time and coding skills, check out this issue to add spoiler formatting in SN. In addition to the usual SN contribution reward, I am personally giving out a 30k sat bounty. I will pay out the bounty to the person SN recognizes as the one resolving the linked GitHub issue. Please follow the usual conventions to contribute to SN.
I hope this is not a breach of proper conduct, let me know if it is.

I made a github proposal but is considered hard to implement https://github.com/stackernews/stacker.news/issues/519

In fact, collapsed answers already exist. You can do it manually and the frebies are collapsed by default. I think it would be enough to put an option in the post creation saying that you want all replies collapsed. That should take an hour for someone who already knows the code.

On Github @k00b suggested it'd be good to follow a more generic approach. Having all answers collapsed would look kinda messy in my opinion. There are sometimes interesting discussions going on in such posts.

k00b's idea sounds perfect!

I love spoilers without hiding them. I don't unerstand people being afraid to read a review about a movie, you will watch it anyways.
But the proposal is good for other cases.

The usecase i have in mind is related to the recent series of puzzles we've been posting in the ~science territory, e.g. #736443. Even a quick glance at other people's answers can already spoil the puzzle.

Right. Good use case. Make them pay to view.

Aha, hadn't even thought about the possibility to pay to view. Interesting 🤔

Ofc otherwise people will cheat just open it. Now you understand why I always say
