There are a lot of differences by year in the automobile market. Some are built better, some have better features, some look better, some drive better and some last longer. What years of autos, turn your crank?

Late 60’s made some sick rides!

They were real muscle cars!!! Loved the original colors, too.

I wouldn't mind a full self driving car in about 10 years.

Eeeech …… aren’t they having troubles with accidents? A lot of accidents! I can wait forever for that kind of car. Anyway, I enjoy driving a 5-speed, manual transmission.

When I think of a vintage I think of driving for fun and for me fun means technology for power and precision but not for internet or behavior. I don't want it braking for me, it doesn't need gps, and I definitely don't want it asking for a subscription. Just want to get in and commune with road and machine. In this sense the last decade seems to be best.

Seems like you like the ‘90s and earlier! Am I wrong?

Actually chose 10-20 though if we're talking leisure and appreciation yeah I'd go 80s, 90s, maybe even 60s. Wish it was easy to rent these things for a couple weeks.

That may be a good business venture, but the muscle cars may go through a bit of abuse if they are rented out. You know, like being returned with bald tires and such.

No doubt. Tried Turo some years ago but it was annoying. It's definitely an area where reputation could help with the rental process. I'll just have to buy and sell later when I have more time and motivation to try cars.

Late sixties into early seventies, no doubt!
I've had 2x Ford Anglia, 3x Toyota Crown, 2x Volvo 142/242, 3x Mercedes 508D/608D, a Ford 17M with a V6 2.0 liter engine from a Granada, and an early Lada Niva.
All of them fun to drive, easy to repair, hard to kill off and cheap to boot!

My best from that era was a Dodge Dart with a slant 6 an a 4 speed. I loved it until some idiot did a huge hit and run on it when it was parked on the street.

I am of a split mind about this. I like the cars made before the ‘70s because they are really easy to fix. But my favorite cars to own were a ‘91 & ‘92 Honda Civics because they ran over 300K miles, without many problems!
