Today’s post is inspired by @DarthCoin’s journey on SN.1
Here’s what struck me the most about his story. When introduced to Bitcoin, Darthcoin used the $20 he had originally intended for beer to buy 1 BTC. Let’s not get sidetracked by how affordable BTC was back then. Let’s focus on his conviction. After growing up in an oppressive communist regime, he flitted from place to place in search of liberation. And when he found Bitcoin, he seized the opportunity to grab hold of some sats, no questions asked.
This made me wonder if the other Stackers who shared how they had gotten into Bitcoin on ~BooksAndArticles were anything like Darthcoin. Or is Bitcoin something that gradually grew on you as you went further down the rabbit hole?

Footnotes

  1. However, the sats won’t go to him since he often says that he doesn’t need the zaps. So, I think it’s meaningful to all of us if the zaps go to the founder of ~BooksAndArticles.
If today, when 1BTC is almost $69k I will met again my ObiWan friend, without knowing anything about Bitcoin, I will still buy that 1BTC, no matter what. Why? Because the BTC price really doesn't matter. It matter what Bitcoin is doing to the whole world, govs and banksters. You see? 99% of people look first at BTC as an investment plan or shit like that. I DON'T. Because my goal in life is not to get rich (in fiat), but TO FUCK THE WHOLE SYSTEM, GOVS AND BANKS.
By studying Bitcoin I got rich in more knowledge and NOBODY can take that it from me.

Initially, I viewed Bitcoin as a toy or a way to gamble. It was only after 7 years of getting burnt shitcoining and deciding that "Bitcoin was dead" that I was shocked to see the price at $40k, and was forced to go down the rabbit hole.
For me, it was it was the quest for knowledge that finally let me understand Bitcoin. I didn't think I had a problem that it could solve until I did enough research to finally understand the problems with money in our society.
I cover much of this in detail in my orange-pill story "Paw Prints to the Time chain": https://bitcoinbarks.com/Barks/paw-prints-to-the-timechain/#wbb1
I also go deeper into the intersection of Bitcoin and Psychology in my article "Maslow's Apex": https://bitcoinbarks.com/Barks/maslows-apex/#wbb1
