Let's not kid ourselves. SN is going to 'non-custodial' because of asinine money-transmitter regulations in the United States. They (SN) cannot 'handle' or 'hold' money, even though Bitcoin is technically classified as a 'commodity'... they cannot 'hold' money they cannot have any control over it so it has to be completely non-custodial otherwise it's 'money-transmitting'.

Having said that it is good for people to be able to use lightning completely non-custodially to create content, pay a few sats to post, and pay a sat to reply.
