What are some things you do to save time? Is multitasking really something we should avoid like the plague?
I know AI has a bad reputation, but I used:
- ChatGPT to generate a transcript of my student’s work. (Yay! I don’t have to type it myself!)
- Brisk Teaching, a Chrome extension, to churn out 10 PPT slides on 10 Japanese food items. (The content was top-notch, with accompanying slides. I realised that now I have the headspace to pack more insights into my slides since its ‘skeleton’ was decided.)

I've been having my students submit their writing assignments using an AI writing tool. The tool doesn't write the work for them, but it evaluates their work in terms of grammar, structure, flow, and word count. I make the AI evaluation part of the grade, and they get that feedback in real time.
Therefore, by the time their work gets to me, it's already quite readable, and I can grade for content and not grammar.
Prior to this, grading writing assignments was a nightmare because half the time I could barely understand what they were trying to say.
That kind of tool sounds pretty useful, and I don't know if I'm wrong but I think that most AI tools are becoming less useful and less capable every time.
Which writing tool do your students use?
Very good idea especially grading better written papers
It’s a tool called pack back
https://www.packback.co/ ?
great idea!
I wish I had this as a student
Bookmarked! Thanks for providing the link
It’s so smart of you to make AI evaluation part of the grading! This would at least deter the motivated ones from just using AI to churn out soulless perfunctory essays!
I mostly do things to spend time.
You have worked hard to enjoy this laid-back approach toward life!
