I scream out loud that for several years.
Yet people still run LN nodes over Tor.
Just run a private node. There's no need for public nodes over Tor. Those are doing more damage then good to the whole network.
If you really want to run a public LN node but still want to hide your home / private location from where you run the node machine, just do this:
- buy a cheap 5 bucks VPS with a public IP
- run a VPN tunnel with wireguard between that VPS and your node
- your node will use that VPS IP as "public IP", not your home IP.
Done, you will have a nice node on clearnet that never fail.
Tor is NOT suitable for LN nodes.
@DarthCoin it looks like you are also into cybersecurity. Is that the case?

Yeah tired of my node randomly not working. Star9 doesn’t allow you to run LND via clearnet

See more options here, including a private LND node

I will read. Will rethink my approach to LN nodes

here is a great video tutorial how to use wireguard with a VPS, by 402 Payment required. Great tutorials channel.

Don't get me wrong. I am not saying you should not run a node.
I am just pointing out an important aspect that many users do not know: we have 2 types of nodes, public and private and each could be run in different ways.
As I explained here #486306 and here:

I know. I just had this dream of running a routing node for the overall good of the Network. But it’s starting to feel a bit naive.
The node that I can’t connect to was my routing/ln payments node. But as soon as my SN zaps were failing I knew my node has issues. I was also using that node to sell channels on magma. The node would be fine if it was clearnet but it’s behind tor and I wonder if it’s Tor or something else going on with my software that is causing the random outrages

Voila! Your node is fully on clearnet and will not have issues anymore.
Thank me later.

Will give it a shot. After I fix my star9 node

Start9 is not a bad hardware, is one of the best, also the software is good.
The problem here is Tor... Tor with LN nodes is a really bad combination.
