The 'Future You' in Present!!

The Future You project, created by researchers at MIT Media Lab and international collaborators, uses AI to create a simulation of a user's 60- to 70-year-old self. They detailed the project in a paper published Oct. 1 to the preprint database arXiv (pdf).
Users can converse with the AI through a text interface on topics such as how to achieve what they want in life based on their circumstances, beliefs and outlook. It was devised to give people a sense of being connected to their future self, scientists said in the paper.
Just curious

Would you like to talk to your 'future you' or not?

What do you do if you're >60? Can I speak to 4 year old me?
reply
Haha! They actually didn't mention it anywhere. But I believe, they already have it. I'll try to ask it to them for you.
But, why do you wanna talk your past self?
reply
My childhood is a faded blur now. I have a lot of questions.

What would be your first question if you can talk to your childhood self?

Why did you have to fry all those ants with your magnifying glass? Karma is a bitch
reply
Ahhh! I used to catch grasshoppers to put them inside a bottle.

I have never remembered anything from the time I was four. I think my earliest memories of life began in kindergarten (5-6 years old). So I’m constantly amazed at my 5-year-old who can remember stuff from two years ago. I wonder how long his toddler memories will last

When I was a kid I remembered going to the ocean and getting swamped by a wave and spinning around underwater. That memory stayed with me throughout my childhood. Now I just remember remembering it.

Great to be the catalyst then!

this is such ba'alshit. the future is not predictable, but sure is programmable.
reply
Hell no. I will ascribe too much meaning to the chats, which will prevent me from living my authentic self. Maybe I will self-censor my actions as a result of the chats
reply
Ok. Will you talk to your past self?
reply
Maybe talk to my past self during the year when my mum passed on. I would have told him to drop everything on his plate and spend more time with her.
Other than that, I don’t begrudge or romanticise my life choices
reply
So sorry to hear that! It's just natural the cruel reminiscent of our past self come before us running before everything else.
reply
Gotta constantly strive to live a life with few regrets haha
