I did send the article to a Swedish guy I know and asked if it was accurate and he said yes, that is how it is, but he has personally not been robbed by bankid - so far

I guess there is plenty of time for that to happen yet. Criminals are criminal and they do crimes and find ways to do crimes, no matter what situation they find themselves in. Did you ask him what happened to the “unbanked” people in Sweden?
