i mean for me i have to as i live in a village and have to drive my kids to the bus stop 30 mins away every day and pick up, i have a 12 year old Toyota, cost a few grand and runs great.
if you live in a city with a good metro or subway and transport etc, then it's quite easy to not need a car i think
