I will bet she is from Minnesota, Wisconsin or New Hampshire! She may have even played on a school team, herself. Hockey is an outdoor sport here and ever kid has a pair of skates and most have sticks.

She is from Saskatchewan Canada. She played in the Canadian Women's Hockey League and for the Canadian women's national team.

That would have been my next guess. Since it was the NHL, I thought it might be an American team with an American coach. Canadians do hockey almost as much as Minnesotans.
