No surprise here. Not sure it is entirely his fault but the team needed a change to say the least!
I wonder if the big name QB made this call? He wasn't great, but I never thought he was the problem.
reply
I would be perfectly happy for the 49ers to get Saleh back as DC.
reply
Everything falling into place. Now, it's time to hear about the 2nd round pick they're trading for Davante.
reply
Just keep him away from the Chiefs and any NFC competitors I say. Jets would be great.
reply
This comment is based on the my undue belief that the 49ers are going to get their shit figured out and still win the division. Seahawks, Chiefs, Cowboys coming up before the bye. Season could be over quick if they don't get sorted. Thursday night is a huge game.
reply
I hope the Rams are at least bidding him up. It would be nice to have someone at the table saying "F them picks."
reply
1-4. Still injured. 2 games vs seahawks remaining. 1 against 49ers. Bills. Vikings. Eagles. Not sure they will be active.
reply
If not, they should probably be shopping Stafford.
reply
I don't think they will do that. I think they will try to go for it next year when everyone is healthy. They have some nice young players from the last couple drafts. They will likely have a top 15 draft position next year, if not top 10.
The issue with Stafford is he is old and makes a lot of money. So it has to be a situation like Jets were with Rodgers where they think they can win in the next couple years if they just get the right QB. Not sure how many teams feel that way.
Does anyone know if he would be open to being traded? I keep thinking he is going to retire so I wonder if he is just kinda like fuck it I will just ride it out here
reply
This is a fair point. One would think he would want to compete for another ring but maybe he is content playing out his contract in LA where no one cares about football. Haha.

Yeah lol I could see him just being like... ehhhhhh let me just take this bag and go home lol. I could have seen a move to something like Maimi since they have a pretty complete team but they seem hell bent on bringing back Tula.....
Oh dang. Did they leave him in London?
reply
Did not expect this quite so early. If they're keeping Hackett it sounds like he's been sacrificed to the ego of Rogers.
reply
Hackett is a hack. Sorry had to say it.
reply
Just like with Cleveland and Watson they owe him stupid money and so they are stuck with him for now.

Saleh was great as a DC with the 49ers. Too bad it didn't work out for him with the Jets. I think he will get another shot in the future.
reply
He never held anybody accountable, he was in over his head as a HC.

The more I look at it the more I am surprised he came back this year... I just don't see how after last year he had control over the locker room at all. It was clear he didn't this year!
reply
He had less control this year with AR in the locker room haha
reply
49ers need him back as DC. Sorensen has been a disaster so far.
reply
I forgot that is where he was! You cant have back Ryans lol he is killing it in Houston!
reply
Demeco is amazing. I think he is a top 10 coach already. He was Saleh's protégé in SF. Saleh was great as a DC but just didn't work out for him as a HC.
reply
Yikes jets have solid Defense. I’m assuming it’s Aaron’s House now.
reply
As an old tormented Jest fan, I don't really care, start winning already the window is closing.... Is Davante signed yet?
reply
You would get him for a think two additional years beyond this one if yall manage to grab him!
reply
Wow, already?
I do recall Rodgers not being super friendly with him on the sidelines. Perhaps Rodgers is calling the shots.
Wen Davonte?
reply
I am not sure they have the assets to secure Davonte... If they do they really will be trading the farm for him
reply
You're probably right. Maybe it's time for him to prioritize winning over cash, but that seems unlikely
