a pixel of course can't be trusted. it's google, the data vacuum will be built in on the back end. motorola, also a western phone, will be similarly compromised. I just went to the page, and support is discontinued for the only phone in the list I would have halfway trusted - the Xiaomi phone....
A Chinese phone? from China? From a communist state China? OMG.

better, faster, cheaper, without backdoor access by western spy agencies. on all metrics the better deal.

The one thing Western intelligence agency has more access to is non jurisdictional hardware...

I see it is important for you that WESTERN spy agencies don’t have access, then 👍
(Even though you never know these days)

obviously. Think about this for more than a second and without an ideological short-circuit and it's obvious that this is a rational decision

well then you would have chienese 3LA inside instad of americans 3LA...so a pinephone is the way?
reply
probably, yeah. But two differences: The backdoor access to Western phones has been proven. There's hacker material on how the hardware is compromised. No similar proof exists for Chinese phones, though if I had to bet on it, yeah, I assume there's something there too. More importantly though, whatever a Chinese phone would maybe collect doesn't end up in hands where it cancels my bank account, gets me under surveillance, nudges employers not to hire me, puts me on an extra-check list at airports, or any such thing where I live. So I don't give a damn.

We need a RISC-V phone like the pine phone...
