At the beginning of the season I placed a $2 bet on Fred Warner for DPOY. It pays $152. Still a lot of season left and he got a bit banged up last game but so far in my opinion he has been the best defensive player in football. If not the best player period.

But we will see. DPOY has become an edge rusher award but if a Linebacker is going to win, it will be Fred.

If a few more of the elite edge rushers get injured, he'll have a decent shot.

Hutchinson is great but he sucks against the run. I don’t think that will matter if he gets 20 sacks though.

That's why I'm so insistent about Crosby being better than most of the elite edge rushers. He plays every snap, unlike many of these guys who are specialists and need another guy to play defense for them on running downs.

True, I was just seeing their team stats which were bottom 3rd in the league mostly.

He has super impressive production considering how much he is doubled or chipped. 97 points against vs Steelers 53 for TJ

He had the one season where he missed almost the entire year due to ACL tear, otherwise he hasn’t missed more than 1 game any other year. Hopefully that continues.

Joey has definitely been more injury plagued. 2020 was brutal for the 49ers. Coming off the super bowl they lost a bunch of their starters to major injuries and had a terrible season. The way this season started with injuries reminds me of that year but fortunately thus far other than Hargrave none of the injuries seem to be season ending. Although CMC will probably miss a few more weeks and come back after the bye.

Also, 49ers depth has been better than I thought it was.

Do they give it to defensive players in Football there? I see they normally give it to the one who makes the most goals, as is the tradition.

Yes, defensive player of the year is the award.

There is also an offensive player of the year award and of course the MVP award.

So, it's much similar to soccer. I thought you're just talking about MVP. In soccer, they give golden boots to someone who scored the most goals, then best defender, best goalkeeper, best midfielder and so on.

Steelers having a top defence is mostly because of TJ Watt too. Guy is a beast and does a lot a stuff that impacts games. He literally ruined Kirk Cousins a few weeks ago

Agree. Neither has been as good as Fred Warner so far but both are more likely to get the award because it has become an award for sacks.

I haven't made anything yet. We are only through 4 weeks of a 17 week season. If he stays healthy and keeps playing like this, I will make quite a bit and I can sweep my winnings into Bitcoin.

Yes, but he has to keep playing and stay uninjured. Thats the hard part. Or some kind of controversy may happen.
