Yes, and now it's super easy with Alby Hub's - you just generate NWC string and they can reuse it in their wallets, we have separate balances, so eventually it's a subaccount, already few friends onboarded

i custody my kids birthday money in btc every year that i also custody.
the plan is to stack for my kids and then let them have it when they're 18 or 21, depending on if i think they are mature enough and after i have made sure they properly understand how everything works etc

I'm thorn about this approach. It seems wrong from most perspectives, however by the comments it seems many people do it.
I guess that for kids it is ok, but for adults I'm still not convinced.

the bitcoin network custodies "my bitcoin" and the "bitcoin of everyone" who needs custody. i don't even know which are all the nodes that have "my bitcoin." i merely have some limited operating rights of the network code. i own nothing. my hands are clean.

Run your own node. If other nodes fork, you still have what you might call Bitcoin.
