Julian Assange is to attend a parliamentary hearing in Strasbourg on Tuesday 1 October 2024 which will look at his detention and conviction and their chilling effect on human rights, ahead of a full plenary debate on this topic by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) the following day. Both events will be livestreamed.
The following day, on Wednesday 2 October, the Assembly – which brings together parliamentarians from the 46 Council of Europe member states – is due to debate and vote on the committee’s draft resolution.
The hearing, which is open to the press, takes place on Tuesday 1 October in Room 1 of the Palais de l’Europe, from 8.30 a.m. to 10 a.m. CEST. It will be streamed live in English on the Assembly’s YouTube channel (scrollable mid-stream, with instant replay).
A live feed of the hearing in broadcast quality can be obtained via the EBU. Alternatively, broadcast-quality footage can also be obtained, around an hour after the hearing ends, on request, from audiovisual.coordination@coe.int. Media wishing to attend in person, where space allows, should submit requests for accreditation here, and are invited to signal their wish to attend to pace.com@coe.int before midday on Monday 30 September.
PACE is just a bunch of bureaucrats that means nothing. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. The whole hearing is just a theater to show the world "how nice they are with Assange" and let them speak.
btw... do we really know he's the REAL Assange? btw... PACE is not there to defend your "human rights"... there's no such thing. Don't get drunk with water...
What really matters is: STOP FUNDING THEM. bankrupt them!

Respect for your reply, @DarthCoin.
I completely agree with you for the bureaucratic side of organisations as PACE and 99% of the current active "guardians of the human rights". They have been created with idea to protect the individual human, but at the end they just serve and protect three letter agencies' interests.
However, this will be the first public appearance of Assange and I will be happy to see him out and away from the prison cell. I'm sure that I will be able to recognize if he is real or some AI generated influencer.
He has my respect for all his publications and that he was one of the first to use Bitcoin for funding and business operations back in the day when Satoshi was still around.
The hearing will bring more details regarding the work done by Wikileaks for the last 15 years to many of the EU representatives as Vault 7, Espionage Act and etc. and this is important and will educate the current members on the reality of US and UK shadow foreign affairs.
Also the creation of new resolution for EU members regarding the options for extraditions to US and UK for European journalists is important.
In EU here are still a few places where you can't be extradited to USA for your journalist work or because you shared anti-american political opinion. And I will like to keep this right for me and my European friends.
For us this is important, our European governments are the puppets of USA and UK, but this is already changing and the process will not turn back.
