I have been educated in Nostr and it has everything to do with decentralization and censorship resistance. Also as a protocol it is strong. But every option is valuable and everyone chooses.
But recently I heard about Tox? According to what I have searched it has P2P Chat features, like a solution to Skype. Is it FOS? Only has a Chat function? What do you think?

I haven't heard about Tox in a hot minute. It's dead as far as I know.

Tox is excellent for private and secure communication. Yes its open source and there are several versions of it available.
