I don't think it's the amount of food. It's the type. I live in Japan and our family usually goes 110% full, especially at yakiniku and sushi train lol
I love the sushi trains. They have them in the USA, its like 8$ a plate.

Damn, that's a lot. Less than $1 here (at the cheap places). Avg salary is also less though

It can get very expensive here. I remember in taiwan it was a lot cheaper. I would stack 30 plates easily.
