CMC is not getting traded but I think his injury is going to linger all year. Reports are he isn't getting better. He had one other season like this when he was with Carolina where he missed most of the year but otherwise he has been pretty healthy.
I'd keep him on ice until the playoffs, unless it seems like you'll miss them without him (which seems unlikely). If he's fresh for the postseason and teams don't have much film on this year's offense, that could be a big advantage.

I think they will keep him out until after the bye. That would be another 5 games on top of the 3 he has missed and give him the bye week as well.
I think Mason can fill in admirably but he can't do all the things CMC does. 49ers offense has not been bad despite the injuries. They are racking up a lot of yards, moving the ball, controlling the clock, but 3rd down and red zone percentage are bad. CMC makes a huge difference there. They need to respect him in the pass game, screens, quick tosses.
Although the offense could be better. 49ers biggest problems right now are defensive and special teams related. Their D is ranked lower third in the league and special teams 28th. It's bad. Sorenson looks lost. Both Darnold and Stafford absolutely cooked on 3rd and long. I saw a film break down yesterday of the game. The Rams ran the exact same play on 3rd down 3 times. How is Sorenson not adapting. McVay was licking his chops. Not the FG drive but the one before the where the Rams scored the TD to tie the game. The 49ers had Campbell on Atwell. How you have a LB on the only speed guy they have out there. Of course Campbell got cooked and led to the massive gain that led to the TD.

I am so pissed about that Rams game. Let a divisional opponent that was dead and buried absolutely steal a win from you. 49ers need to beat the Patriots by 30 this Sunday and get rolling. I don't care about the injuries anymore. Figure it out. Want to whine about the injuries against the Chiefs and Bills and Lions later in the season fine but not against a banged up Rams team or a garbage Patriots team.
This is the kind of quality insights the Stacker Sports podcast will feature. Haha .
