Of course, our common objective is to stack sats. And there may be other extrinsic sources of motivation that fuel our activity here, such as wanting to support Bitcoin-centered content.
But in terms of personal development, are you using Stacker News as a tool to attain some higher level of performance? As a way to engage in purposeful practice so that you can write more fluently and effectively? Or as a digital notepad for you to record down emerging ideas, which might otherwise be as transient as cherry blossoms during spring? Or as an impetus for you to gain the motivation to quit some bad habit as well as gather tips on how best to do it?
On the flip side, does all this talk of enhanced performance make you cringe? For you just use it as an avenue to exchange banter, learn some news and relieve some stress? As a hobbyist? All fun nothing too serious. Hell, you may even be shitposting exclusively during your fiat job.
I’m reading Peak by Anders Ericsson and Robert Pool right now. It got me wondering about how Stacker News fits into the overall scheme of the life of other Stackers.
I mostly fall on the "nothing too serious" side. SN connects me to a bunch of people I can talk to about all the random stuff I'm interested in.

The launch of territories has really spiced up SN life!

SN completely fits to my beliefs. I always wanted to be among those who are no hypocrites. SN feels the truth machine for me. Obviously, I earn a few sats like so many other Stackers here, it's a bonus you get to be holding truth together.

Bitcoin + SN = Truth Machine

reply
Oh I love your equation. You should use it more often!
Holding truth FTW!

I'm using Stacker News to learn about Bitcoin and for entertainment. I believe that learning is a lifelong process and I enjoy learning..

Your polls certainly showcase your unquenchable thirst in human nature

I think many want to make money quickly. And find out that isnt possible here. Then slow down and stick around because it is interesting. But not all of us use our sats like you :P

I bought mouthwash and snacks for kids last weekend with the latest voucher I bought from Bitrefill haha.
Though that isn’t my own goal.
I’m trying to engage in deliberate practice by writing every day. My specific weakness is that I tend to jump abruptly from one point to the next without a smooth transition.

I enjoy reading your topics, but I think you might find enjoyment by engaging more. Just my two cents.

I like commenting but I am one of those who need to get into the mood first. Right now I have an extra 30 mins before picking up my children, not particularly interested in reading my book further, feeling the need to respond to you because ya I know I tend to MIA when it comes to commenting haha
Typing actually exhausts me unless I have something to get off my chest hahaha
reply
Just talk to text. It isnt that hard with all our new tech.
reply
That’s actually worse. I type faster than I talk haha

When you have time you can always catch up on your posts. But more activity happens when you comment right away...usually.

I'm using it to learn about Bitcoin and how lightning can serve me and my business.

All fun nothing too serious.
Sometimes fun and sometimes serious. Depends on the type of content I consume. But overall, SN has become the platform for me like you I can withdraw some sats. However I don't buy beer and other stuff from these sats. I'm just holding every sat for dear life. Or, may be I reinvest in SN territory.

Learning is part of it, not only about bitcoin but from other stackers too. Also having fun within the sports area. Now even watching NFL, which I have never done before.
