MotoGP seems to be creeping closer to a crescendo for the title this year. Just when you think one of the four protagonists is building momentum and starting a run into their championship winning stride, ego, a lapse of concentration or not reading the room allows for the others to stay in touch or even close the gap again.
With all four riders ( Martin, Bagnaia, Marquez and Bastianini ) within 60 or so points of each other with 6 events to go we have our contenders still being friendly and amicable with each other.
There will be a clash and there will be hurt feelings in the end - somehow I think this season will be closer than ever.
https://x.com/fromadeckchair/status/1837850015227887805 has a great tweet on Bagnaia’s crash which looked odd at full speed with barely any lean on , but slowed down it makes total sense, rear hopping like a pogo, not dragging like an anchor overwhelmed the front tyre but putting a world champion like this under pressure makes the greatest rise up and overcome. Let’s see how great he really is.
As for WSBK we have a new triple header winner : Danilo Petrucci. Yes the guy who just earlier this year almost died in a crash has come back to win all 3 races at Cremona. How bloody good!
He’s also the first guy to win a MotoGP, Dakar, Wsbk & Motoamerica race. What a lad.
Toprak remains in the lead of the championship and if you haven’t seen it yet his crash which caused a pneumothorax it’s worth a look on YouTube. Hopefully he should be back at Aragon.
There are 6 riders technically in with a shot at the title with only 3 races to go, but with the form Toprak has been on it’s the punters game to bet against him on his BMW.
Nearly all sports in this world these days are Games. Motorcycle riders are fucking psychopaths tightrope walking faster than their competitors, knowing they could get killed or maimed in an instant. They are gladiators and should be celebrated.
