You are right, that is very special and personal relationship with the higher power. God (or whatever one might call it) definitely exists, it is up to you how to absorb it. One needs to find its own unique way to interpret it and live according to your creed/moral compas. Organized religion on the other end that's another story for another day. Listen and learn from a lot of type people/religions but make your own choices. That would be my view.
