I play sports with my kids all the time. I watch games with my son. I watch games with my dad. I connect with old friends and stackers on SN over passion for sports.
Ultimately I am going to do whatever I want to do. I worked my ass off for over 15 years, invested wisely and put myself in the position where I have a lifestyle where I can control my time and what I do with it.
Consider, if it wasn't incredibly profitable for few, the NFL wouldn't exist..
reply
This iteration of the NFL certainly wouldn't but sports leagues existed long before they were media machines. But asserting it is more about making money now than the joy of sport and competition is absolutely fair.
reply
That makes sense. And I know a lot of people get joy from sports. I just never did. It is a great way to bring people together. And I can get behind that.
reply
I can see how it is a great way to connect. I just didn't have that in my family and friends. Different perspectives. I like poking a bit. I only have love for all the "sports ball" people.
reply
Makes sense. I am just saying how I see it. Not telling anyone what to do. It's just strange to me, doesn't make it "wrong". 💚
reply
Agreed. Your initial comments didn't really seem to be presented as opinion and not telling anyone what to do which is why I pushed back a bit.
reply
I get it. I like being a just a little bit if a dick sometimes. Just to get people engaged. I really do respect all perspectives. I am a human. I only do it with love. I can respect people who like sports and hopefully they can respect me.
reply
Understood. You have to be spicy with the hot takes some times to get a good discussion going. I think its a great debate. As I mentioned I do think sports are a net negative in a lot of ways for some people. Many people ascribe their value as humans to the results of their team. That is not healthy in my opinion.

I have to ask, why grayruby?
reply
Why ask why?
Haha. Can you be more specific as to which statement you are asking why in regards to?
reply
I mean, why did you choose that name?
reply
It makes me think of a diamond in the rough. A ruby that has lost its luster.
Oh gotcha. Gray is my son's middle name and Ruby is my daughter's middle name.
I can be kind of fiery. I keep it tame here to be honest.
reply
Fiery is good. As long as we are open to each others ideas and respectful. SN could use some friendly debate. We don't all need to agree with each other about everything.
reply
I agree..that's kind of my thing. I drive my wife crazy with my fire. But she thanks me later..I aim to be a catalyst for change and expansion. We have to meet people where they are and push a little at a time. We are all just lost souls walking each other home. 💚
