I can see benefits to both.
Without it, stackers would focus more on the content, pre MSM days.
With it, stackers can at least see if someone is gaming the site more than usual, until they go into hiding.
Maybe k00b is waiting for the day that all 100 spots are hiding on the leaderboard, then he will take it down, hahah.
