Data and Methodology
The data we used to create this graphic is listed in the table below. Figures were published in 2022 (with data as of 2018).These estimates are based on each country’s ecological footprint, which is measured in global hectares (gha).It represents the amount of biologically productive land and water a population requires to produce all of the resources it consumes and to absorb the waste it generates, using prevailing technologies.
