If many new users are migrating from Twitter and using the Twitter auth this might pose some challenges since their Twitter nym will have to be different than their SN nym if already taken.
Bitclout requested users Tweet a confirmation code which allowed you to claim the Bitclout account.
Having consistent account names between Twitter and SN would be really convenient and make it easier to pull users away from Twitter imho.

KeyBase uses a unique code proof that you tweet to prove that you are who you say you are. I think something similar could be implemented here on SN to verify user accounts.
