Good NY story. My cousin and I were reminiscing after we heard the news. My cousin was younger than me by a few years. When he joined pee wee Little League they issued him he jersey #7. He asked me what famous player wore the number 7 on his jersey. As a Mets fan, I naturally said "Eddie Kranepool." A few days later he was wearing his jersey with a bunch of friends. One of the parents exclaimed "#7! That's Mickey Mantle's number." He said " no it's not, it's Eddie Kranepool's. Years later, as a Little League coach at an awards dinner, he got to tell Kranepool that story.
