Travelling restart being easy, not as before... but easier than past few years. I've been planning a change and this infographic helps me define my possible destinations, not only based on cost of “retirement”, but also geopolitical location and weather.
The estimates are really generous based on my minimalistic lifestyle, also consider these estimates are calculated based on the following criteria:
  • Members of your household = 1
  • Eating lunch or dinner in restaurants = 15%, Choosing inexpensive restaurants = 70%
  • Drinking coffee outside your home = moderate
  • Going out = once per week
  • Smoking = no, Alcoholic beverages = moderate
  • At home, we are eating = Western
  • Driving car = moderate, Taking taxi = no
  • Public transport = 2 round trips weekly
  • Sports memberships = all household members
  • Vacation and travel = two per year
  • Buying clothes and shoes = moderate
  • Rent = Apartment (1 bedroom) in city center
  • No children
If you need to stop one minute, or two, thinking where you'd love t set base for the next... let's say 10 years, where you'd go? What are the countries with the most probability of growth? Those that are currently in recession? or Those that are already prospering?
Happy to hear your thoughts and motivations, and either if you decide to stay where you are, it will be nice to hear why.
Climate, nature, infrastructure, safety and useful language to learn? Costa Blanca in Spain hands down.

Well, if you ask me in South America today which country to live in search of a peaceful and comfortable retirement for my old age, I would say Uruguay... a country that is rarely mentioned and in which, according to surveys (there are 4 cows 🐮 for every inhabitant)... but its economy is quite stable and my family has acquaintances there and they are very nice people... now in Europe, I would say Italy, although I have not yet completely finished my Italian classes... I like that country!! and its conservative family culture!!

I have never been in Uruguay, nor know anyone that has been there to ask more info. it definitely has a lot of potential, and plenty of available meat!
Italy in the other side, it's good place to be, undoubtedly. I'd prefer a small little countryside town more than a big city.

I don't understand the amounts of money. None of them would be enough to retire on.

The numbers have been calculated on a US monthly living costs for 124 countries, then multiplied by 180 (# of months in 15 years) that represent the average retirement age / life expectancy after retirement. To allow for a more comfortable retirement, the figures were further revised up by 20%. Consider the data is also from 2021.

I'd take one of the Caribbean Islands, but I don't know which one.

In my opinion all of this will have changed a lot well inside 10 years...
How much Bitcoin would it take? That would be the best question I think!
reply
yes definitely it will change, but I'm looking at the current state not a hypothetical future utopia
