Many global citizens recognise Kumamon, but fewer people know that he hails from Kumamoto Prefecture. Well, Kumamoto is right smack in the middle of Kyushu, so savvy and intrepid travellers may want to use it as a base for their fun times on this southern island of Japan.
You certainly won’t be disappointed by the aesthetic look of Kumamoto Airport. Showcasing a dignified, earthy facade, it features several amenities, including a children’s playground, a viewing gallery and a food court. What I liked most about it was how it thoughtfully introduced t Kumamoto’s unique strengths. For instance, one photo describes the teak wood from a town in Mount Aso.
Airports are normally not tourist attractions, but I think Kumamoto Airport will excite your senses as well as provide much fodder for inspiration. Now, you will at least get to broaden your knowledge other than Kumamon!
