I thoroughly enjoyed using the Writing Feedback feature from Magic School AI. I relish how it flatters me, then gives me a reality check, and ends off with general pointers.
This is why I was eager to try out other AI writing assistants. Hence, Cathoven AI came into my life.
Using it was intuitive. I just pasted my text on the Writing Reviser feature. It dangled two options for weary educators who just wanted to get their students’ marking over and done with.
I chose the first option: Revise mistakes. I expected a holistic account of the strengths and weaknesses of my writing, but instead, I saw my mistakes highlighted and struck through, with the corrections highlighted in green.
Okay, not quite what I was looking for, but I guess it could assist me in marking my students’ work fast, provided that I could get them to type their essays first.
Anyway, moving on to the second language: Revise mistakes and enhance language. I expected it to offer more sophisticated vocabulary choices that would accentuate my exquisite sentiments, like finely cut truffle decorating French fries.
What I saw was a variation of the first. More mistakes highlighted and struck through in red, with accompanying corrections in green.
Okay…the wow factor was missing for me. I thought that Cathoven didn’t offer anything uniquely different from Grammarly. Or maybe I am just addicted to the dopamine rush that warms my eager-to-be-pleased heart whenever I devour the compliments Magic School AI throws my way.
Till later! 👋
