As you get older I found myself having lost my childish play - taking life and myself too seriously. I’ve got a serious job, and serious bills, and serious conversations with serious people. Media - with the carriages of outrage, worry, misguided “truth” following along - is all so bloody serious.
Ram Das talks a lot about how ridiculous this all is, the world, being “a somebody “ - attached to a name, your beliefs, job title , political affiliations , so on. It’s all so fucking serious!
To quote him - “ Who is that “ I “ ? Is the “ I know” or “ I don’t know “ the same “I“? The “I” seeing and the “eye - using the
optic nerves, lenses etc, see” so where is the “ I “ ? Who are you anyway? Do you exist? Are you a creation of your own mind? Is there anybody home? Who is it you’re protecting? “
Turns out you can choose to take life a little bit less seriously after all. I’m grateful to be on this space rock sharing this moment of time - for it is fleeting and fickle. I’m in awe of stars, how symbiotic nature is, that I can question these things. Don’t forget to zoom out, touch grass and be apart of it all. Love fully, stay curious, don’t forget to marvel at life. Don’t forget to play within life - sports , be silly with your young niece/nephew , with your spouse. Tease and flirt with people you encounter (not necessarily with romance in mind).
The “I “ in me sees the “I “ in you - we are all one.

I have always thought that sometimes we have lost that essence of being a little more childlike, of living life a little, not of disengaging ourselves from our responsibilities but of living life a little more with more humor, more essence, more magic, and sometimes we delve into social life in adult life and forget that life is not so much about that, but about being able to enjoy it, being able to live it.

Awesome reminder. I think it’s so important to carve out time to do something fun n silly every day, even if we are overloaded with adulting. Let’s keep it up 👍
