If your willing to KYC cashapp also has a cash to bitcoin option at 7-11’s. But I’ve used several ATMs here in the anti crypto state of California also. You have options

Look for Bitcoin meetups in your area on meetup.com (lame), the Orange Pill App, and Flockstr. Simply ask, in person, at the meetup if anyone is buying or selling. Generally, spot price is accepted. If there is not a meetup in your area, START ONE! You may end up sitting at an empty table the fist few months, but it will grow. Once a month on a Tuesday (first Tuesdays or whatever) is pretty common for Bitcoin meetups. Pro Tip: pick a place that serves beer - Our meetup doubled in size once it moved to place with beer & burgers. :-P

I think there are a lot of bitcoiners out there... who would probably prefer not to go to bitcoin meetups out of privacy concerns. Going to a bitcoin convention is different with lots of people... but a few people at a meetup honestly doesn't sound like a great idea i don't know.

All the more reason to go to a meetup. No KYC and you don't even need to tell anyone your real name - Many use a nym at meetups. Also very fun to talk in person with other like minded individuals - Talk about Bitcoin, just don't talk about YOUR Bitcoin. ;-)

that makes sense

it sounds kind of sketchy especially in my area but a like convention I would maybe go to.

Been doing it for years, never had any trouble. Just stay in the public setting with the group, It's easier than you would expect. ... but maybe your risk factor is different in your area.

If you want BTC sans KYC, then you either pay the spread (price for "privacy") on p2p or mine it yourself. I don't see any other reliable option TBH.

do it peer to peer, the atms are basically scams. btc is meant to be used with people anyways. you could use orangepill app to find locals i suppose...although i dislike that app personally.
stackers have outlawed this. turn on wild west mode in your /settings to see outlawed content.
