Set my alarm at 5am, but actually woke up at 4.30am. Been hooked on the Netflix show The Influencer, so my longing to finish watching it galvanised me to ditch my sleep time.
Watched 2.5 episodes and am feeling tired and exhilarated right now. Maybe more discerning viewers will examine this show from a big picture perspective and criticise it for promoting sexualisation of women and meaningless click-bait content. Seems rather like the antithesis of the Bitcoin ethos, where you hammer in on creating value and bringing some positivity to the world. But boy, was I hooked.
I just thought it was ingenious of the game producers to come up with challenges that forced the influencers to think on their feet and gave them a fair bit of latitude to display their creativity. They were competing against one another on uncharted territory, so it was refreshing for me to watch the myriad strategies the influencers used to stay alive. I don’t know about you, but since I am born and bred in a society that still functions predominantly on textbook answers and best practices, I felt that my mind was broadened as a result.
This gets me thinking to productivity books and how they advocate that we should carefully curate our morning routine to get a head start for the day. Not one of these successful people in My Morning Routine confesses to binge-watching Netflix early in the morning. But now as I’m suppressing my urge to nap just so I can finish typing this, I realise that I should ultimately look inward to determine the things that drive me.
I’m not a big fan of routine and responsibility, which seems to be unfortunately what parenting is all about. Sharpening the evening flow to such an extent that I know the timing by which I must accomplish various tasks. These 2.5 episodes made me feel connected to the big, bad world and have a glimpse at how other people think and live.
It does wonders for my soul, even though I know that I will crash later and crave desperately for a nap. But I believe that exposing my mind to a change in mental scenery will fertilise my mind in the long run.
So, be sure to go along with what your gut tells you, even though it isn’t conventional wisdom. Experiment, iterate and be authentic!
Dont sacrifice your sleep, or your week can turn into a nightmare. Getting less sleep always has a cascading effect.

Ya I don’t intend to make this a habit. Anyway there are not many Netflix shows that I’m dying to watch. I don’t have to teach today because I’m attending a course 😜

Haha, what kind of course is it? I never liked the group trainings, the HQ always seemed to be behind on training and how to improve. When the improvements have already been made, since the teachers actually teach.

I have always had a routine of waking up early to exercise and watch news and comment on SN.
