In the summer of 1998 as part of a grade school project I was prompted to write a letter to my three favorite sports stars. The content of the letter was more or less, I enjoy watching you play and could I please have your autograph. Baseball was my favorite sport to play and watch and my favorite team was the Braves so naturally my first choice to write a letter two was Chipper Jones who was consider the best third baseman in baseball at the time. Also both Mark McGuire and Sammy Sosa were locked in a battle to see who not only would finish with more home runs that year but also to see if either could beat roger Maris' record of 61 home runs. It turned out that both would break the record that had held for 37 years. McGuire finished with 70 home runs and Sosa 66. A few years later Barry Bonds would break the McGuire's record and still holds the all time record of 73. Of course the asterisk and what many people suspected at the time was all three used performance enhancing drugs to help them hit that many home runs. But I could've cared less at my age and just liked watching the home runs so Sosa and McGuire were the other two I wrote a letter to. Not surprisingly given the amount of fame and increased attention Sosa and McGuire must've received that a summer I am still waiting for a response to my message. However, in the mail a few months later I received a response from the braves with a letter from chipper and a autographed(now faded) picture. Needless to say it made my day as a little boy.

That's great that you got a response from Chipper. He was an amazing player and the Braves had some incredible years in the 90s. Must have been fun being a Braves fan growing up.
I grew up a Blue Jays fan. The '92 world series was epic.
You guys have got one heck of a GM.
