In this episode I talk with Umi Miyahara, Business Development Lead at Breez.
Breez is a self-custodial Lightning-as-a-Service company bringing peer-to-peer bitcoin payments to apps and services globally with the free and open-source Breez SDK.
We talk about Umi’s journey through traditional finance and fintech startups, her Bitcoin story, and the evolution of the Lightning Network.
Do people still think the original bitcoin is still clunky? She was talking about the Yen when it was strong, wow. Its been a long time since then. I guess Japan is really picking up on Bitcoin, now that other company is investing in it.

BTC original is still clunky for small retail payments and while LN provides a potential solution the fiat legacy powers (govts and bankers) have all but closed down use of Bitcoin in any form as a MoE. As a SoV Bitcoin does now have some obvious utility and proven track record but the ETFs are steadily reducing the volume held by people directly and increasingly building the case for a ban or quasi ban on private custody.
