The U.S. government has raised alarms about a potential Iranian strike on Israel, possibly within the week. National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby confirmed that U.S. intelligence aligns with Israel's assessment of an imminent attack. Kirby emphasized the need for vigilance, noting that the nature of any Iranian or proxy assault remains uncertain but could be significant. In response, the U.S. has bolstered its military presence in the region to deter escalation.
Israel's military remains on high alert following recent targeted killings, including a Hezbollah commander in Lebanon and a Hamas leader in Tehran, both linked to Israel. Iran and Hezbollah have vowed retaliation, further heightening the risk of conflict.

Iran is only a viable state with an economy strong enough to sponsor multiple military groups in the region because China buys its oil exports in defiance of the sanctions imposed by the US more than a decade ago. The same is true for Russia since the Ukraine invasion- only Chinas ongoing trade and payments outside of the USD SWIFT system and instead based on the Chinese Yuan and enabling ongoing mercantile support from China, enables Russias ongoing attack on Ukraine and implied threat to Europe and the West. WW3 has begun via proxy states military aggression, sponsored by Chinas ongoing trade support.

You sound like UK/USA and the EU with it's institutions of exploiting energy and raw materials worldwide have no responsibility in this mess. I think that's a wrong evaluation of the past 80 years
reply
Not at all. I have not said anything like what you impute. The West has clearly been the leading imperialist over the last 5 centuries with the USA leading that imperialism over the last 80. Most Chinese are well aware of the Opium Wars and the humiliation that imposed upon China. How many Westerners are aware of that history? China is simply responding to the western imperialism that has been imposed on it.

Ah ok, sorry, I got You wrong. It's a heated debate sometimes
reply
Yes it is and its important we face the consequences of what the west has done and look at how those who have been affected might and now are responding. I don't blame China for not wishing to be subject to the hegemony of the west...but equally if China succeeds in continuing to build an alternative bloc many in the west are in for s surprise with the boot being on the other foot so to speak. There seems to be a lot of denial about the reality and imminence of Chinas rise and now open challenge the the west.

My biggest fear at this point is that certain interest groups in the West will ensure that the BRICS states expand faster than we would like and bring their ideas of human rights and humanism, let's call it that, to the world. a huge, energetic power bloc is emerging that hardly any of us can really assess so far
