It needs to be stated that Bitcoin miners produce a lot of heat and noise. The pitch of the noise is a high screeching sound that is absolutely horrible, and carries through walls, making it difficult to contain the noise. Large miners run into issues at times with noise ordinances as a result, so it is not always easy to just setup a miner in your house for heat. There are solutions to this that are fun.
My personal opinion is that the Antminer S9 is the best bet for home heating. You can use Braiins aftermarket firmware to help lower the noise levels by reducing the power consumed. Generally, less watts equals less noise as the fans do not have to run as hard to keep it cool. With the S9, you can also buy aftermarket fans like the Noctua off of Amazon to make them significantly more quiet (this is what I did last winter), though they won't be as efficient at cooling.
The S9 can run on 120v which is the standard residential voltage in the US, meaning you can use most of your house outlets to run it. It's good to learn some basics about electricity before you overload your circuit.
To get some ideas on power consumption, here are some comparisons:
-Average laptop consumes 30-200w
-Average phone consumes 30-100w
-Refrigerator consumes 350-780w
-Microwave 600-100w
-Antminer S9 400-1600w (You should probably not exceed 1000w on a 120v outlet)
So even compared to your normal household appliances, a S9 can consume significantly more electricity, generating heat. I would say they are comparable if not better at producing heat than your average space heater you can buy on Amazon, but with the advantage of mining sats. The income you can earn is pretty insignificant, so if you aren't solo mining with it, then I would suggest using a pool with lightning payouts like Lincoin, Braiins, or NiceHash.
There are other options if you want to tinker. There are products such as the Loki board that allows you to run single S19 hashboards on 120v, meaning you can mine more efficiently than a S9. I like to find the simplest way to do things because home hobbyist heating can turn into a very time consuming hobby if you're not careful.
You can get fancy and creative with your home heating solutions such as integrating miners into HVAC, or piping the heat around the house. I personally just place S9s around the house and run them on lower power settings so I don't get divorced.
My advice ultimately on the topic of home heating with miners is:
-Keep it simple
-Keep it cheap
-Don't treat it as a financial investment
-Don't overthink it
