One year ago I joined SN. I think I first read about it on the r/bitcoin Reddit subreddit. I was hooked from the start. I quit Facebook years ago. I have never embraced Twitter. I really like the idea of being able to replace "what if" or something higher. Stark news is priceless.I started to study seriously. High signal/low noise. My interest in Bitcoin stems solely from my political beliefs, my belief in freedom and my distrust of strong central government. I'm a retired lawyer, so my expertise, like myself, is law, politics and economics. My strong point in school was not math. I went, but there was no wizard. I'm no expert, although I do enjoy playing around with computers on a basic level for fun.I have grown up.
I struggled, and I still struggle with my Bitcoin skills, but the people here have helped me learn more than I could have ever imagined. I tried linux before, but the benefits of windows stopped after a while. Thank you SNers for your encouragement. I ran an Umbrella node for a few months before installing it, but now I'm starting to learn more about it beyond just plug and play. I started teaching myself Python through YouTube videos. Progress is slow and the art still has a long way to go, but I'm enjoying the journey. There are many talented people on SN who give generously of their time and knowledge. Thanks to regular AMAs, I get to connect with people I wouldn't otherwise have the chance to talk to.
I particularly remember Lyn Alden, Anita Posch, Nik Bhatia, jb55, Alex Gladstein, and Alex Leishman. I hang out with Kevin Rooker and his podcast is still educating me. DasCoin abuses me once a month. Jimmy Song often posts polls, fiatjaf talks about new events and giveaways, and sometimes Odell and Gigi post their latest posts here too. Guy Swann also appears occasionally. I know I am forgetting people. For serious Bitcoin fans, this is the big leagues.Keyan Kousha, founder and fearless host, regularly publishes articles and reviews. A smart guy, but humble. Most users don't pat her butt while chatting with her.
Some of his writings have been ignored, and some of mine have been ignored. This is the strange thing about SN culture. This is part of the drama.Stacker's comments are over a year old. A lot has changed since I installed it, including polls, update buttons, senders, NIP-05 support, cool, rare and expensive cowboy hats, NIP-57 zap support, bookmarks and nostr subs, etc. . I'm sure there's more on the way.I just want to enjoy this site and look forward to learning more as our world moves toward Bitcoin..
Happy anniversary 🎉
