Didnt a lot of californians move to the midwest?
Not as a proportion of movers, but maybe in absolute terms. There are a lot of Californian refugees to go around.
The refugees are staying in cali, right?
Or seattle?
By definition, refugees are leaving their homes. Many refugees from other places are going to California, but Californian refugees are largely going to NV, AZ, and TX.
None are headed to NYC?
Not appreciable numbers. NYC is shrinking, too. They're going to NJ, FL, and the Carolinas.
I did hear a lot of news about people going to NJ, even though the taxes there are higher.
NYC is losing its place in the world.
Yeah, Jersey wouldn't be my choice, but a lot of people have to stay close to NYC for work or family. Part of it was people moving because of the Covid lockdowns. You could still live like a human being in the Jesrsey suburbs. The other big factor is the skyrocketing crime in NYC.
That's true, but if it were the reason for moving, I doubt Californians would be moving to the Southwest.
