(Meta-news)
Found this piece really interesting and entertaining. Biden's withdrawal was one of those Big Pieces of News that got everywhere quickly, and that means that there were tons of ways people found out (Stacker News is not listed, alas). My favorite is the Twitter account dedicated to tracking whether or not Liza Minnelli has yet outlived a particular person or thing, but in general, the idea that we often learn these things second or third hand (instead of either directly from news reporting) fascinates me.
I know josh Benton from college
He introduced me to Netscape navigator
That's amazing, I never got to use Netscape, although I would have loved to.
It was cool in 1995 because it was the first time I used a browser. At the time I didn't know it was a browser.
Were you even alive in 1995 lol?
That's the problem, I was born a year later, so I missed out on things like that browser.
That's awesome! I rarely see folks I've known from back in the day in bylines, but it's always cool when it happens.
Haha I get probably at least 50% of my news and views these days from SN.
Someone told me the president is dead.
Thats why we havent seen him lately...
He literally spoke in public last night: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j65g0R4QUDc
Thats good!
And I’m learning about Liza Minnelli through your post! What makes her such an icon?
Considering his physical and mental state, it is quite surprising that he lasted such a long time in office.
This sucks all of us
