I can't believe it! I've gone to many places in India but I've not found any trace of using toilet paper anywhere. Yes, there are a few modern hotels where we may see toilet papers but otherwise it's only 'wash buttocks' culture here.
Believe it or not but the westernization in India is areal thing now. Many households, especially the elite ones, have adopted to western habits of eating, dressing, celebrating and even defecating sitting directly on a stool type toilet seat. I'm not surprised that the demand for toilet paper is rising in India. But I'm quite surprised to see the number of trees being cut everyday alone for toilet essentials! I don't essentially believe in the propoganda of environmental crisis upon the world but cutting down trees is surely impacting the nature or playing against the rules of Nature. Also, I've posted some time before about our toilet habits #480306 where I gave a clue about how much toilet paper can cost to Nature!
