As an English teacher, I’m preoccupied with teaching my students the finer points of capitalisation and punctuation. Especially so for this semester because they will be tested on the accurate use of capitalisation for their final year exam.
But teaching to the test is one thing. Making sure that they have internalised the lesson is another. I recognise that it is an uphill battle because my too-cool-for-words teenagers type like this in their daily life:
But my kids haven’t met Sensei yet. I am nothing but persistent. So, I engaged the help of Meta AI to create an image of a Grammar Champion.
I inserted the image into Canva and wrote what I thought was a persuasive text about why they should employ capitalisation and punctuation.
Now, Sensei has a huge ego, but he knows that he isn’t omnipotent. I know that I can get the help of Canva’s Magic Write feature to make my message more palatable. Hence, I selected the “More Fun” option.
This is what my poster turned out to be like. I happily sent it to my class WhatsApp group, feeling satisfied that I had tackled my pet peeve today.
