We used polar in our dev env for a long time. It's really convenient. After a couple years though it was clear that onboarding new open source devs to sn required teaching them how to use it. They'd have to familiarize themselves with the tool and configure sn to communicate with it.
Creating our own pre-configured regtest network made things a lot easier.

You guys definitely took a step in the right direction. But I will say, polar was also pretty great! What you have now works well though

I agree Polar is awesome. It made early development of SN super easy.
