America’s trust in the media has plateaued over the last few years with only around one-in-three Americans saying they trust the news.We visualize the percentage of Americans who trust (or distrust) various news organizations. Importantly, this is not an exhaustive list of media brands. Data is sourced from a 2024 YouGov survey commissioned by the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism.ℹ️ More than 2,000 nationally representative Americans were asked to rate a brand’s trustworthiness on a scale of 0–10. Responses that picked 0–4 were coded as “don’t trust;” similarly 6–10 were coded as “trust.” The middle number, 5, was categorized as “neither.”

Although likely on the decline all these trustworthy numbers are still way too high.

I don't really like Trump but the way he irritates some of the worst, most fraudulent people makes me root for him.

Yes, that's how I feel, too. I forget who described themselves as "anti-anti-Trump", but I found that pretty relatable.

That was my first reaction too
Also TV makes the most impact for 'ordinary' folk
Then you have X and Facebook, YouTube and alternatives like Rumble and Odysee
Who reads Drudge Report now?
X or Twitter has outsized influence because so many media members use it and it's the best medium to get real time news or breaking stories
We saw the outsized influence of Twitter in October 2020 when NY Post Twitter account was suspended and all links to their story was suppressed or hidden
The most important function of Twitter is to debunk mainstream media such as CBS, ABC, NBC, NY Times, BBC, etc
edit: Visual Capitalist is left wing, it's obvious from the charts we have seen here on SN

Still a long ways to go. The order isn't terrible, though: local, foreign, national.
I'm wondering if the mask falling off the Biden dementia coverup will shake Democrats' trust in their outlets.

I watched Trump's speech on PBS last night because that is the only channel I get in Canada that covered it. I used to have the US news package but I cancelled it. Why spend 10 bucks a month on trash. The PBS panel was apoplectic after Trump's speech. To the point a couple of them were saying Biden should reconsider staying in the race after hearing the speech. It was hilarious.
Now I thought the speech was long and rambling and he most certainly wandered off the intended path but these guys were acting like he had called for civil war or to blow up the world. So funny.
