For some weird reason it feels like Stacker News slowed down in posts/comments/interactions. But the numbers don't actually show that it does... Idk why it feels like this, maybe It's because of more quantitative posts about the same topics again and again, maybe I'm just plain mistaken.
Looking at the data, it's pretty much the same month over month in terms of quantity of posts/comments. We did institute the cost increases for excessive posting/commenting so that probably has decreased some.
You might be onto something about the topics being overly familiar though.
when I do transactions on LN, they occasionally confirm instantly, sometimes take like 20 seconds, or anywhere in between. Is that just a matter of routing and how fast the wallet can find a route across the network? Or something else?
It can be multiple reasons afaik, but I'm not an authority on routing implementations.
Sometimes a hop or more is over Tor and communicating across it might be slow. Other times, your wallet might've attempted routes that failed before finding ones that succeed. If your wallet is often offline, it might have a "stale" view of the network when you go to pay and that might impair its ability to route.

Bitcoin is for everyone, stop associating it with crimes!
I have a little time to finish an essay for presentation today at Bitcoin Brunch.
My friend and I also began regular pre-production for a live podcast idea called "Saturday Night LIT" which I will link to in Stacker News when appropriate. We expect to have discussions related to bitcoin, but a more general focus of learning how to produce a good live broadcast. For those unawares, LIT stands for "Live Item Tag" within the Podcasting 2.0 ecosystem.
I snagged saturdaynightlit.com which seemed like a nobrainer to me.
