If you are sending quite a medium amount of sats, the onchain fee could be cheaper than using LN ( especially under a low-fee environment ), but ofc it depends on how well your node is being connected / channel size / how you use it, etc.

And as the onchain no privacy thing, correct me if I'm wrong, it works nicely if you swap the sats from LN to onchain and then send from there.
