Yes, you're right! Indian wedding Market is booming in recent years. I got married before 10 years and I hardly spent $20000k but now wedding expenses are treated as a symbol of your riches. This is I think the same for everywhere.
Indian weddings as you know have so many traditions and for every ritual you need to spend at 5 to 6 dollars from beginning. The 'Priest' is also there for churning as much money as possible. The sister-in-law will easily take away $200 for your shoes. All your relatives won't go without being given an INR 500 Note (At least 6 dollars). Also clites for everyone. Then food and decoration.
