Following in Messi's Footsteps: Barcelona Announces Lamine Yamal's New Jersey Number

FC Barcelona has announced the new jersey number for their young star Lamine Yamal after officially registering him with the first team.

The 17-year-old Lamine Yamal shone with the Spanish national team in the UEFA European Championship "Euro 2024" and led the team to its fourth title in history.

Spain won the Euro 2024 championship against England with a 2-1 victory in the tournament hosted by Germany.

A few days after the triumph, Barcelona announced Yamal’s new number, and he will now wear the number 19 jersey.

Yamal previously wore the number 27 with Barcelona, but now he will wear the number 19, which Messi previously wore.

Messi wore the number 19 jersey with Barcelona from 2005 to 2008 before switching to the number 10.

Sergio Aguero also wore the number 19 during his time at Barcelona, as did Patrick Kluivert during the 1998-1999 season.

Vitor Roque wore the number 19 jersey after joining Barcelona last January.
