It is definitely quite amazing, but also quite worrying, to think that people live in a Matrix-like world. The idea made famous by the movie "The Matrix" is philosophically concerned with the nature of reality, the possibility of perceiving it differently, and the very nature of human existence. For most people, the idea that experiences can be fabricated is rather unbearable, mainly because it interferes with how most people understand reality.
Society or individuals would always fight or have a phobia about anything that threatens their perception of structure or order. Philosophically, the theory that our world is an actual simulation brings up feelings of existentialism and what could be considered the quintessential question, "Is this real? Although it is now just an interesting concept for people to play with in their minds, the fact remains that people need order within reality and comprehensive and reliable knowledge about it.
