Continuation from my original post : 7 days with the Apollo 2
You know those winter mornings where you struggle to get out of bed because you know it’s 1°C outside and the house is going to be bloody cold? After snoozing the alarm one more time and groaning as you pull back the duvet I promise you, you never get over the feeling of walking into the kitchen and half asleep thinking “Why is it warm in here?” - Two Apollo 2’s baby!
I have been enamoured with these things, I’m running two Apollo 2 miners that have been rock solid solo mining for a few months. Averaging 12Th/s @ 400W, with a slight hum of fans in the background. Incredible.
At the current difficulty I have a 1 in 350,000 chance of cracking a block EACH DAY. HOW BLOODY COOL IS THAT.
Really the main takeaway here is there is a company selling a home miner that has no compromises: minimal noise, adds another node to the network, decentralises the hashrate, looks good, feels good, smells good… you get the picture.
These guys are going to be solo mining til the day they die whist keeping my kitchen a bit warmer than before.
Nothing else on the market like this, 10/10 recommend. Get your hash off zero!

That’s really cool. This one is on my list. 😎

i've had two standard apollo standards running for two years non-stop. Their products are built to last!

Glad to hear this, always a bit nerve wracking buying a newly released product. These guys seemed liked they did their r&d

do they still running? Solo too?

yes, still running without issue. ive used them with several pools. Right now they are humming with public pool 🙂

Awesome! I have one FutureBit Apollo 2 running, along with some other machines. Great to see someone else using one, too!
reply
Hell yeah! May the solo block be ever in your favour

How about the cost of the machine? I remember they're about 2k USD?
reply
I can’t deny that these aren’t the cheapest machines though 2k USD would get you two devices. You could probably buy a $100 S9 that gets you the same hashrate but for 1300w and a lot of noise + heat. I was searching for efficiency and having a refined device I could run in my living areas.

I like those odds anyway! I'm thinking about scaling up a bit since we're getting solar panels installed next month.
reply
Oh is this solar setup just for mining? Or full home setup? Be cool to have updates about it!
I mean my ideal setup would be a diy black box with a Whatsminer or 2 humming away ideally with solar - mining to my Apollo node obviously 😉

Nah, its just for general electricity usage as there's a government subsidy and a lot if sun here. I'll see how much is going back to the grid during the day and try to find a suitable miner to fill that gap.

How are you getting this number?

Also the Apollo 2 dashboard has a counter built in
