In July 2022, I decided to start streaming bitcoin-only games on Twitch. The goal was to showcase bitcoin games, spread bitcoin education and encourage bitcoiners to venture into bitcoin game streaming on platforms like Twitch, Youtube, and even Facebook Games (yes, Facebook Games exists π).
So I started my Twitch channel and purposely set it up just like any other gamer's channel that you see on Twitch. I created similar overlays, panels, stingers, music, the whole 9 yards. The only difference is that I was only going to play bitcoin games and talk about bitcoin.
In order to make my stream bitcoin-only, I set up the Zebedee QR code widget for donations on my stream and I do satoshi giveaways to engage my viewers. I also set up a Discord dedicated to bitcoin gamers called The Bitcoin Gamers' Circle where I share all the tutorials I used to set up my Twitch stream, log my journey as a bitcoin-only streamer, and share tips from what I learned along the way.
It's been almost 2 months now that I've been doing this and my stream has gotten better and better. I'm almost going to hit my Twitch Affiliate goal and I hope to hit Twitch Partner next year.
I've already had my first sponsorship and a bitcoin gaming company has reached out to me to play one of their games on my live stream.
So why am I writing this?
I wanted to show you that if you're a bitcoiner and you have an interest in bitcoin games, there is an audience out there who would be interested to watch you play. There are also bitcoin companies out there that would be interested in sponsoring what you do.
I've by no means achieved the height of the potential available in bitcoin gaming. But I wanted to share this with you because I believe this could be a unique way to orange pill more people and showcase an interesting use case for bitcoin.
